This is a quick reference concerning the required information and necessary documents needed for the registration of industrial property rights.

Marks
Application
Assignments, licences and changes of identity or address
Renewals
- Applicant's name, nationality and address.
- Applicant's nature of business (industrial, commercial or other).
- Three reproductions of the mark (in colour if claimed as a distinctive feature of the mark, together with the relevant description).
- Photolithograph dimensions of a maximum 6cms x 6cms and a minimum 1.5cms x 1.5cms.
- Class and specification of products or services (international classification, Nice Agreement -Fourth Edition).
- Priority Claim - country, date and number of the earlier application (the priority document should be submitted within three months from the date of application).

NB
- A series of marks and multi-class applications are not permitted
The list of products and services in the application must be exactly the same as the priority claim document.
Madrid Agreement and Protocol are not in force.
Assignments, licences and changes of identity or address
Renewals
NB
- The registration is valid for seven years from the date of approval, renewable indefinitely for periods of the same length.
The renewal application must be submitted within the final six months of the renewal date along with the original registration certificate.
The registration is subject to attack if not used for three years, unless the reason for non-use is justifiable.

Complementary Certificate for the Protection of Medicines and Pharmaceutical Products
Application
- Applicant's name, nationality and address.
- Inventor name, nationality and address.
- Specifications of the invention.
- Claims of what is considered novel and the characteristics of the invention.
- Abstract of the invention.
- Drawings necessary so as to provide a complete understanding of the written description.
- Resume of the invention (preferably of not more than 150 words or 400 characters).
- Priority right - country, date and number of the earlier application for each claim (the priority document should be submitted within three months after the date of application).

Power of attorney
NB
- Not more than one patent may be applied for in the same application and only one patent may be applied for each invention.
- A number of related inventions, which constitute a single general inventive concept, shall be considered as a single invention.
- Multiple priorities can be claimed for a patent and appropriate multiple priorities in the same claim.
- The applicant may request the examination report or present the examination report in the period of seven years from the application date.
- The extension of European patents in not yet in force.

Subsequent payments must be paid in within final the six months preceding their respective expiry dates, whether the patent have been approved or not.
Complementary
Certificate for Protection of Medicines and Pharmaceutical Products
- Applicant's name, nationality and address.
- Patent number and name of the invention.
- Number and date when first authorised to place the product in the market in Macau. The period that the complimentary certificate is issued for should not exceed seven years in respect to the patent it for which it has been granted.

- Title or description, which summarises the object of the invention.

- Resume of the invention. (preferably, of not more than 150 words or 400 characters).
- Priority right - country, date and number of the presentation for each claim (the priority documents should be submitted within three months after the date of application).

- Only inventions that alter the subject matter so as to a give a different configuration structure, mechanisms or any alterations that increases its productiveness or improves the advantages that can be derived from them can be protected as Utility Models.
- The applicant may request an examination report or present the examination report in the period of four years from the application date.

Application

- Industrial Designs or Models that constitute the various integrated parts to form a whole should be included in a single registration.
- Industrial Designs or Models that possess the same characteristics, up to a maximum of 10, in such a way that they constitute a whole group of inter-related objects that are necessary for the use or application, may be included in a single registration.

- The first quinquennium is included in the application fees.
- The subsequent quinquenniums shall be paid within six months preceding their respective expiry date.

Sub-Domain Name Registration in Macau (.mo)
Application
- Application form.
- Confirmation letter with the authorised signature and the official stamp of the organisation
- Designation of administrative and technical contact responsible for administration and operations of the domain name server.

Power of attorney

- The name server should be located in Macau and provide a continuous service.
- The domain name administrative contact must be a full member of the organisation applying for the domain name
- Individuals may not apply for domain name registration.
- The domain name chosen must be related to the name of the business registration. Eg: an ABC company can chose ABC.com.mo or ABC-xxxx.com.mo or xxxx.ABC.com.mo
- To apply for the change of registration of a registered domain name or other registered particulars, the applicant should submit the documents as applying for a new domain name.
- Multiple domain names are allowed but each entity can apply and hold not more than 10.
